Privacy Policy

Discover My City is built to respect your privacy. In short: the app does not collect any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and I run no servers that your data could be sent to.

Data stored on your device

The city you choose, your search radius and categories, and the places you discover, save, visit or discard are stored locally on your iPhone. They are shared with the app’s widgets on the same device, so the widgets can show your places. This data is never sent to me or anyone else. Deleting the app deletes all of it.

Location

If you allow it, Discover My City uses your location while the app is in use to find your city, to prioritise places near you when searching, and to show how far away places are. The widgets use it in the same way. Your location is never sent to me or stored by the app; to find your city and nearby places it is included in requests to Apple Maps (see below). You can use the app without location access by searching for your city, and you can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services on your iPhone.

Apple Maps

To find places, show maps and provide Look Around previews, the app uses Apple’s MapKit service. To answer these requests, your device sends search queries such as the area you are exploring, the categories you are interested in and, if you have allowed it, your approximate location to Apple. These requests are not linked to your Apple Account and are handled according to Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Third parties

The app contains no third-party SDKs, analytics or advertising frameworks, and no data is sold or shared with third parties.

Children

Discover My City does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
